"I had a full day seafood cookery lesson with Alistair, all the food and utensils were provided by him and he even did the washing up between meals as I ate the dishes we created! We cooked a variety of dishes and sauces, of which my favorite was bamboo steamed sea bream in ginger soya, chilli, coriander and lime with teriyaki and ginger dressing. Other dishes included mussels in a wine and garlic sauce and a scallop starter. Alistair taught me the easiest way to fillet a fish (mackrel) something that I've wanted to know for a while as I'm an avid fisherman. The day was so exciting and interesting and I have already cooked a few of the dishes again for my family and they have all thoroughly enjoyed them. I would recommend this experience to anyone and I imagine the other courses are just as interesting and well planned out. All in all a full on day but well tailored to the individual sharing hints and tips throughout.

"“I booked 2 days of cooking with Alistair for my daughter’s 16th birthday. Booking was very straightforward; Alistair got back to me very quickly to discuss the options and we decided on the student course and a beginner’s course covering fish and desserts. On the first day, Alistair turned up with everything that was needed to cook all the dishes. They headed off to the supermarket and Georgia told me she learned a lot as Alistair walked her through the different meats, fish, veg and herbs. When they got back, they got stuck in to the cooking and my son and I were very pleased to be called in to try the kebabs, hamburgers and curry all of which were really good. She has cooked the kebabs for us twice since then and they are becoming a family favourite. It’s burgers and chilli relish this week! The next day she was taught how to fillet fish and produced some lovely fish dishes and the desserts were really stunning. One of the added benefits was that we were left with a variety of extra portions which kept us all fed and very happy for a couple more days. Overall, my daughter’s feedback was that she had a lot of fun, it was interesting and informative and she’d love to do more. Alistair is a lovely guy and it was great to hear them chatting away in the kitchen; they were clearly very interactive sessions. I will definitely be booking my son in when he gets a bit older, but I also think it would be great fun to do this with some friends. I think the courses are very good value, bearing in mind Alistair’s time and all the ingredients he brings. Thank you Alistair.”"

"My wife and I enjoy our food so I was really pleased to be given a “Create your own Menu” day with Beurre Blanc by friends for my 60th birthday. We chose the food we would cook; Scallops and Pea Risotto with Crispy Bacon, Rabbit Garlic and lentil Ragu and a Pear Tartin with Vanilla Clotted Cream and waited for Ally to arrive. What a great day it turned out to be. Ally is a really nice guy and brings all the ingredients and equipment with him on the day. After a ‘get to know you’ chat we got down to the cooking and we were quickly impressed with Ally’s mix of instruction and supervision; superbly balanced to our skill level and all done with a great sense of humour and fun. We learnt a lot of new techniques, got plenty of helpful tips and produced three super plates of food.
The best thing for me was the extra confidence it has given us to try new things and we will certainly be cooking the dishes again for ourselves and friends. We’d also recommend Ally and Beurre Blanc if you want a great day in the kitchen which leaves you with great recipes and the confidence to cook them.

"I have just had my third and fourth lessons with Ally, cooking with meat and deserts, once again I had an amazing day and learnt so much. We cooked a shoulder of lamb with rosemary, garlic, lemon and a hint of chilli which just melted in the mouth, a duck breast with a plum and coriander chutney. And as for the deserts, a raspberry creme brulee, vanilla panna cotta with passion fruit syrup and a sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and homemade vanilla ice cream. Any one of these dishes would not have looked out of place in a top restaurant. "Hello, my name is Alex, I am thirteen and this summer I had a cookery session with Ally. First he showed me knife skills and (how to chop without losing my fingers ) then we began cooking. We started off with sticky toffee pudding and fresh custard. I was surprised how much I knew and Ally was willing to hear some very stupid questions. He demonstrated and then I would follow. We went on to cook homemade fish n chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. There is not much as impressive to your friends as being able to cook fish n chips properly. If you need a crash course in restaurant quality food or want to learn a new set of meals and skills this is what you need."
