Local Sussex Produce Company, Steyning, Worth a Visit!
The name says it all really. This fab, award-winning shop – with an equally great little café squeezed in at the back – specializes in local produce from Sussex, and was named one of the best food shops in the south in The Observer’s 2013 Food Awards. Past the entrance, with its wooden crates heaped high with inviting piles of local fruit and veg, you’ll find an excellent deli counter stocking a range of goodies, including award-winning cheese from West Sussex’s High Weald Dairy; bread from the Real Patisserie in Brighton and Farretti Bakery near Midhurst; and a great selection of Sussex wine and beer, including Harveys straight from the keg. It’s a great place to stock up on Sussex foodie souvenirs if you’re coming to the end of a holiday, or to put together a picnic before striking off up into the South Downs; famed viewpoint and prime picnic spot Chanctonbury Ring is just a three-mile walk away along the South Downs Way footpath.
At Beurre Blanc Cookery School we use sourced local produce where possible in support of our local farmers and fishermen.
